As summer winds down, Grande Prairie Enforcement Services (GPES) reminds everyone that responsible use of electric scooters, e-bikes, and other personal mobility devices is essential to keeping our public spaces safe and enjoyable for all.
What’s Allowed (Wheeled Conveyances)
Under the City’s Parkland Bylaw, the following devices are permitted on parklands, pathways, and trails:
Manual and electric bicycles (including e-bikes)
Scooters (non-Vespa-style)
Skateboards, inline skates, and rollerblades
Segways, electric unicycles, hoverboards
Mobility aids such as wheelchairs
What’s Prohibited
To protect the safety of all trail users, the following devices designed for road or off-road traffic are not permitted:
Vespa-style scooters, GenZe scooters, Juiced Scramblers, CSC City Slickers
Golf carts, golfboards
Gas- or diesel-powered vehicles (ATVs, dirt bikes, skidoos, etc.)
Key Rules and Safety Guidelines
Reasonable Speed: Travel at a safe, steady pace. Do not race or endanger others.
Trail Etiquette: Keep to the right, pass safely, and announce yourself when overtaking.
No Passengers: Devices are for single-rider use only.
GPES works closely with the Grande Prairie Police Service and the RCMP to promote compliance through education and outreach, with enforcement where necessary.
