Grande Prairie Enforcement Services partnered with a Vehicle Safety Investigator from Alberta Transportation and Economic Corridors, Traffic Safety Services Division to remove unsafe vehicles from the road in Grande Prairie.
Over three days last week, Peace Officers conducted 18 traffic stops under Section 66(1) of the Traffic Safety Act, targeting vehicles displaying visible structural damage or equipment violations. Eight vehicles were deemed unsafe and removed from the road, while four others were issued inspection notices.
During the enforcement initiative, officers also identified one suspended driver and removed two uninsured vehicles. A total of 15 violation tickets were issued, and five outstanding arrest warrants were executed.
“We were able to remove a vehicle from the road that had a hole in the floor, as well as another that was using a screwdriver to start the ignition,” says Peace Officer Sergeant Ryan Hoffman. “Vehicles like these pose a risk not only to the driver, but to everyone on the road.”
Grande Prairie Enforcement Services reminds drivers that maintaining a safe, roadworthy vehicle is a shared responsibility that helps protect everyone on the road.
